In the beginning...

So as I ready myself for this month long (4 week) journey to a country where no sane person would go, I am in the last stages of sanity that borders craziness. I've been packing, seeing people, hunting books Indiana Jones style, and losing my ability to think one slow minute at a time.

I've been preparing to leave by slowly accumulating cat food, cat supplies and ect for my roommate to keep my poor attention depraved kittens alive while I am away. My poor waffle has loneliness issues and she knows whats about to happen when that suitcase gets pulled out. Poor thing. Electra couldn't give a care in the world as long as she has a window to sleep in and some food in the bowl. What I wouldn't give to live like that!

As I pack my things I have to consider the following:
  • Shampoo/Conditioner/Soaps/Stuff for general hygiene. I hate being unclean, and or smelling funny. I've got a bag packed specifically for hygienic purposes. This is what happens when you work in a pharmacy and are required to sterilize yourself from time to time.
  • Clothes: Shirts, shorts, pants, ect. I think I only want to bring jeans with me as to limit my available skin exposed to the creepy crawlies of Africa...
  • Pillow. This pillow business is extremely important. Last summer when I went to Vienna the pillow I was stuck with was HORRIBLE. I dropped 20 Euro on one of those fancy shaped "Tempurpedic" pillows because every pillow they sell out there is down, and I don't like getting poked in the eye.
  • Snacks. How far can I get before the airport confiscates any snacks? I have a 36hr travel time ahead of me... I'm not fond of airplane food. I need to bring some jerky with me...
  • Carry on bag! What do I take with me? Other than the obvious things like the Kindle, my ID's Passport, Money, and things of that nature... I bring the laptop (much to my inconvenience... You know I can't live a happy life without being in contact with people back home.), two sets of clothes, deodorant, toothbrush, and the real question is: Do I hold my textbooks? I've only been able to find 3/4 that I need. Which is incredibly frustrating, but hey... who cares right? Nobody uses the textbooks anymore... I emailed all my classmates and my professor so hopefully that will work out for me.
  • Drugs. Lots of drugs. Sleeping pills, malaria pills, and the best one for just in case purposes! The travelers diarrhea pills.
I haven't been to the grocery store in a long while so I am eating every leftover I have. My roomie will devour whatever is left from that so that nothing will go bad. I hate wasting! All this means is that I'm eating Maggianos for breakfast and later I'll have a tuna sammich for lunch.

I will have everything together before I leave and I will update you all via Facebook or this blog or via Email as I can. My plan is to get at least one entry in per week, but when I have a lot of free time and I've had a huge adventure already you bet there will be more than just 4 entries while I'm away. I just have to pretype them in word then copy paste to the blog.

In this blog you can expect the following: Unedited thoughts, jumbled words/sentences, educational asides, cursing, mushy feelings, and plenty of adventure. By week three I imagine all I will be saying is "I WANNA COME HOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMEEEEEEEEE!!!!!" BUT for now I remain strong. Tomorrow I leave the country.
